How Wallet Payments Work
Every Retro Arcade cabinet uses the same payment system. This page explains exactly what your wallet is asked to approve and where your tokens go.
1. Connecting your wallet
Retro Arcade works with the Phantom wallet on Solana. When you press Connect Wallet, Phantom asks you to sign a message to prove the wallet is yours. Signing a message is free, sends no tokens, and cannot move anything out of your wallet.
2. Buying a credit
One credit costs a flat $0.50, paid only in $TOKENS. The cabinet shows the live amount before you buy, for example $0.50 · ≈ 1,240 $TOKENS. The price comes from Jupiter, with DexScreener as a backup.
When you press Insert Credit, Phantom shows you one transaction to approve. It contains:
- A single $TOKENS transfer for the amount shown, from your wallet to the arcade burn vault.
- If needed, a one-time step that creates the vault's token account. This is standard on Solana and costs a tiny network fee.
You also pay a normal Solana network fee in SOL, usually a fraction of a cent. Nothing else is in the transaction. You can read every line of it in Phantom before approving.
3. How your payment is checked
After the transaction confirms, the arcade server looks it up on the Solana blockchain and checks that the right amount of $TOKENS reached the burn vault. Only then is your credit added. If your connection drops before the check finishes, the cabinet remembers the payment and retries automatically the next time you open it, so a confirmed payment is never lost.
4. Where the tokens go

5. How prizes are paid
Prizes come from the token's creator fees, not from entry fees. At the close of each week, 80% of the creator fees in the prize wallet is split evenly across every cabinet in the arcade. Each cabinet's share goes to the 1st place player on its weekly leaderboard, paid in SOL after scores are reviewed. The remaining 20% stays with the project.
6. Credits and plays
- One credit is one ranked run. There are no paid continues.
- Credits belong to the wallet that bought them, in the cabinet where they were bought.
- Free Play costs nothing, needs no wallet, and is never recorded on the leaderboard.
Retro Arcade will never
- Ask for your Secret Recovery Phrase or private key. Nobody legitimate ever will.
- Ask you to approve a transaction that sends SOL, NFTs or any token other than the $TOKENS amount shown for a credit.
- Ask for unlimited token approvals or wallet permissions.
- DM you first with a payment link.
